This degree program provides a comprehensive understanding of the many languages, literatures and cultures in the Slavic-speaking countries of Central, South-Eastern and Eastern Europe. In addition to language acquisition, it includes the scientific foundations of linguistics (linguistics), literary studies and cultural studies. Current developments in language, literature and culture are analysed, but they are also described and researched as a result of historical change.

The Bachelor's degree programme in Slavic Studies combines practical language training with in-depth specialist training in linguistics, literary studies and cultural studies. Graduates have intercultural competence and specialised knowledge of the languages, literatures and cultures of Eastern Europe.

Structure of the Program

Program Structure

On the combined Bachelor's degree programme in Humanities (B.A.), you will study two or three subjects at the same time. The degree program can be combined from a wide range of subjects. You can either choose a second major subject (60 ECTS) or two Minor Subjects (30 ECTS each) in addition to the Bachelor's subject (90 ECTS).

The degree programme also includes a final thesis (10 ECTS) and a free elective courses in (20 ECTS). The total workload corresponds to that of a single-subject degree program.

The degree program consists of practical language modules (Bosnian/Croatian/serbian, Polish, Russian, Czech and Slovak) and subject-specific modules (linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies). These are divided into core modules, advanced modules and specialisation modules. The specialised area also includes a research module, a practical module and additional modules. In addition, a free elective courses in is provided for all students.

Depending on their choice of subject, they take a minimum of three (Minor Subject) and a maximum of sixteen (single-subject BA) modules. There is a module description for each module, which provides students with information about the course, content, qualitative and quantitative requirements and the integration of the module into the overall concept of the degree program.
