Literary performance
The 'Literary Performance' programme was launched by Simone Merk in the winter semester of 2008 and was active until 2013. Currently, courses on this topic are offered from a theoretical-academic perspective at the Chair of Modern German Literature held by Professor Regener at the Institute of German Language and Literature.
What is actually meant by a performance? A performance is a "scenic art practice" that is located on the border between pop culture and art and "questions the categorisation of the arts according to genre due to its multimedia staging styles" (Klein/Sting). To put it bluntly: "Anything goes!" More profoundly, performative art is a movement that differs from traditional theatre and the strict separation of the arts in that it sheds new light on the basic requirements of a theatre evening. Performers are not just performers and spectators are not just spectators. In the course of an evening, the roles may or may not be reversed. Performances aim to open up new perspectives, especially through their montage and collage character. There are no limits to creativity. From staged readings to staged collages, video projects and radio play recordings, anything is possible.
