Description

The study program for Teacher Training English comprises the areas of language practice, linguistics, literary and cultural studies (both British and American studies) and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Linguistics deals with the understanding of the structures and developments of the English language. Literature and cultural studies critically examine the literatures and cultures of the United Kingdom, Ireland, North America, and other English-speaking countries.

The basic qualifications acquired in the core modules are expanded and consolidated in the intermediate and advanced modules. The TEFL module pays specific attention to skills and knowledge of lesson design and didactics. The Teaching Qualification for Gymnasium includes an advanced module where students can acquire more in-depth knowledge of a selected subject area (choice between British Studies, American Studies and English Linguistics).

All teacher training programs include classes in educational science.
