Excursion Phönix Academiae to the commercial law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek
Four law students on the Germany Scholarship accepted the joint invitation of Phönix Academiae e.V. from Regensburg and Dr Armin Freiherr von Griessenbeck, partner and office manager of the Munich office of the commercial law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. Moritz Litters, Pia Wielczek, Fjolla Kryezi and Nikolaus Schröder benefited from the annual excursion.
Dr Christian Strasser, lawyer at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, who specialises in arbitration and litigation, presented a case study on interim legal protection and how to deal with defamatory statements on the internet.
The scholarship holders were given a good insight into the work of a lawyer and a comparison of the day-to-day work of a lawyer compared to the tasks in the civil service.
During the informal get-together at the buffet, lawyers and students exchanged views on career opportunities, the will to succeed and personal experiences. The students emphasised the extremely positive atmosphere in the law firm and the many networking opportunities. What they learnt was that working as a lawyer is "people business" - personality and charisma are also important requirements alongside good exams.

Company shuttle excursion - Götz Group, Eckert Schulen, EUROASSEKURANZ insurance brokers
Three in one go - the Götz Group, Eckert Schulen and EUROASSEKURANZ Versicherungsmakler AG are sponsors of the Deutschlandstipendium and initiators of the PROTALENT scholarship. They invited 14 scholarship holders to get to know their companies and the management teams on site. The trip was accompanied by Celina Berchtold, coordinator of the Deutschlandstipendium, and Stephanie Sedlmayer-Weßling from the PROTALENT team.
The trip started in the morning at the Regensburg headquarters of the Götz Group, where CEO Alexander Götz and his young managers warmly welcomed the shuttle participants. He gave an insight into the company's facility management and the participants were able to visit parts of the headquarters. The management team gave the students an insight into their own biographies in personal discussions and showed them individual opportunities and career prospects at the Götz Group.
Andrea Radlbeck, Head of Corporate Communications, and experienced managers welcomed the shuttle participants at lunchtime on the campus of the Eckert pupils in Regenstauf. The presentation of the educational areas and the training portfolio of Eckert Schools, a personal exchange with the managers about international educational locations, job profiles and insights into psychological work and the tours of the impressive campus inspired the pupils.
In the afternoon at EUROASSEKURANZ Versicherungsmakler AG, Simone Eichinger, Head of Corporate Communications, and HR Officer Saskia Müller introduced the students to the world of brokers in international insurance markets together with managers. A young professional outlined her classic career path as an expert at EUROASSEKURANZ and discussed career entry, team cohesion and the importance of customer proximity with the scholarship holders.
Here are a few of the scholarship holders' impressions of the day:
"How professional, interesting and international the SME sector in Regensburg is is exciting."
"I have discovered new career options for myself - that gives me courage!"
"Getting to know the people behind these companies and taking the time to get to know them is really nice."
"It really got me dreaming about the prospects that open up for me."

Excursion to the law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in Munich, 21/06/2016
On 21 June 2016, six scholarship holders from the current 2016/2017 award round, accompanied by Stephanie Sedlmayer-Weßling from the Phönix Academiae e.V. association - sponsor of the Deutschlandstipendium and initiator of the excursion - made their way to Munich and once again visited the major law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. In addition to specialist lectures, the personal connection and insight into the future professional field is particularly beneficial for the scholarship holders, as the experience report by participants Katharina Göpferich, Lisa Kastner, Kerstin Klingseis and Roman Schildbach shows:
The trip to the law firm Heuking Kühn was enriching for us scholarship holders in every respect. We were offered a varied and exciting programme. Dr Christian Strasser's presentation on the TTIP shed light on the advantages and disadvantages of arbitration. Dr Arnold Büssemaker gave us an insight into his career as a commercial lawyer. His most intensive message was to keep all options open for a long time, to maintain relationships and not to specialise too early. At the get-together, we were then able to chat with many of the firm's lawyers, who took the time to meet us despite the European Championship football match between Germany and Northern Ireland. In addition to small talk and guidance for our studies and careers, they told us above all that we were welcome to keep in touch with them. A large law firm showed itself from a very personal side.
