Babylon

The name "Babylon" actually encapsulates the idea behind the international theatre group at the University of Regensburg: conquering a new language intensively and using it creatively, working in a team, being able to rely on others and discovering time and again that different cultures make the world - including our own - and theatre more diverse and colourful.
Understanding, interpreting, developing, realising, pronouncing and then performing a text in a foreign language together - there is hardly a more comprehensive way to learn a language.
And working with people from different cultures, discussing, playing theatre and spending time - including leisure time - there is no better way to get to know intercultural differences and then overcome them. Improving your own pronunciation and presenting and interpreting a text on stage is a playful way of dealing with a foreign language that takes away the fear of misunderstandings.
Many of the actors and actresses are only in Regensburg for one year; Babylon is formed anew every winter semester and a new theatre group performs its play every summer semester. We are also a German course of the "Lehrgebiet Deutsch als Fremdsprache an der Universität Regensburg" and have the great opportunity in Regensburg to present our work to the public in one of the best student theatres in Germany.
