Using and Borrowing Media

You can research our wide range of media via the Regensburg Catalog plus. The holdings are spread across different locations and can be used in different ways:

On-site media use

A large part of our holdings is available in the 13 reading rooms.
On-site use during our opening hours is also possible without a library card.
Course reserves are shelved in the reading room for one semester.

Borrowing media

You need a library card to borrow media.

Items from the stacks can be ordered via the Regensburg catalog plus.

The media you ordered are ready for collection in the Loans section of the Central Library. Upon request, we will also deposit media in the Pick Up and Return Station or send it by mail.

Books may be borrowed for four weeks (two renewals are possible under reserve).

You can borrow the books of the Textbook Collection for four weeks (with two conditional renewals) via the self-checkout.

Up to five books can be borrowed from the reading rooms at the respective reading room counter. Students can borrow these books for two weeks, external users over the weekend.

Your user account gives you an overview of the media you have ordered and borrowed. Before the loan period expires, you will receive a pre-reminder.

Returning media

Please return borrowed items where you picked it up:

  • media from the stacks in the Loans section
  • books from the Textbook Collection in the Textbook Collection
  • reading room holdings in the respective reading room

Alternatively, books can also be returned at the automatic Pick Up and Return Station.

You can also return borrowed books by mail.
