Description:

This laboratory focuses on room-temperature imaging of magnetic domains in magnetically-ordered materials. In addition to magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) microscopy, it features a scanning thermal gradient microscopy setup that exploits the anomalous Nernst effect to resolve local magnetization with high spatial resolution. By combining magneto-optical and magneto-thermoelectric techniques, the lab probes a broad range of materials, from conventional ferromagnets to zero-moment systems such as antiferromagnets and altermagnets.
