The UR thanks its supporters

As a token of appreciation, the university management invited the donors of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship at the University of Regensburg as well as the sponsors of the Alumnicard and the Summer Festival to the foyer of the University Library on 7 October 2019.

After introductory words of welcome from the President, Prof Dr Udo Hebel, Prof Dr Peter Poschlod, Chair of Botany, gave an in-depth and eloquent tour of his exhibition "Seeds - Treasures of Mankind", which is unique in Germany. The exhibition sheds light on the immense importance that plant seeds have had and continue to have for mankind. The exhibits range from evolution and their importance in nutrition to an overview of the diversity and aesthetic beauty of seeds. In addition, the life of a seed is traced, from its formation through the mechanisms of dispersal and survival to germination. The exhibition was on display in the upper foyer of the central library until 31 January 2020.

The 25 or so guests from business and science had the opportunity to socialise at the subsequent reception and get-together and round off the evening with finger food and wine.

Prof. Dr Susanne Leist, Vice President for Networks, Information and Digitisation, summed up the event positively: "It's great to be able to thank the donors once again in person for their long-term and important commitment. We are delighted that so many personalities from the worlds of business and science are committed to supporting young talent."
