Cancer is driven by mutations and other genomic events. These are not static but accumulate over time in a non-random process that is dependent on previously acquired events. These dependencies can be learned (externer Link, öffnet neues Fenster) from real-world sequencing data and so enable guesses about the genomic past and future of cancers. Such guesses may be helpful to better treat patients in the future, particularly when they inform about actionable genomic events.
