What is a Green Office?
The Green Office at the University of Regensburg is the central contact point for sustainability at the UR.
It supports students and staff in holistically promoting sustainability in social, economic and ecological areas.
It also networks and coordinates sustainability initiatives, in particular to promote student engagement.
How did the Green Office come about?
The establishment of the Green Office at the UR goes back to an initiative of the Student Speakers' Council, under whose leadership a "Green Office Steering Group", founded in 2019, developed the concept for the establishment of such an office and submitted it to university management.
The Sustainability Office was staffed in May 2021 and has been part of the President's Office since May 2023. With the consolidation and organisational relocation of the Green Office, a further step has been taken towards institutionalising sustainability at the UR.
Vision
Within the team, we see the Green Office as the central point of contact for all sustainability-related activities.
Through exciting events such as the Campus Day as part of Regensburg Sustainability Week, we want to invite you to network with other people (groups) and become active together on the topics of the 17 global sustainability goals (external link, opens in a new window).
The Campus of the Future should be a place that combines sustainability, innovation and community.
The aim is to create a green and liveable environment that is both ecologically and socially responsible.
