What is my motivation for this position?Before I joined the Green Office, I was already involved in the student initiative Netzwerk Nachhaltigkeit, which campaigns for a more sustainable campus. In the GO, I can pursue the same goals from a position anchored in the administrative structure of the university and thus become active in even more and far-reaching areas. |

What motivates me to apply for this role?A sustainable and climate-friendly approach to our planet will determine what our future looks like in the coming years. I am convinced that discussing sustainability issues shapes the way we get involved and work towards a better future. What motivated me to apply for this role?
Having explored various aspects of sustainability in depth during my studies and through my voluntary work, I now want to play an active role in shaping a more sustainable university culture. The role at the Green Office offers me the opportunity to inspire (new) students about sustainability – through engaging content, creative initiatives and, above all, well-researched information. I want to help make sustainability visible, tangible and accessible to everyone.
My time (and responsibilities) at the Green Office:
Although I previously knew very little about websites (and was actually originally hired for social media), I discovered at the Green Office that I really enjoy designing and updating websites. I soon designed the new website for the Sustainability Unit and the Green Office and then worked with my colleague Antonia Kaspar to implement it for the relaunch. I also wrote articles for the PE newsletter and represented the Green Office at a wide variety of events – from the information stand at the freshers’ fair to guided tours of the sustainable campus and workshops on sustainable eating, right through to the stand on the Sustainability Mile at the community festival.
I particularly enjoyed building the sandarium together with the children from the UR summer holiday care programme, where I got to dig in the sand and have a splash, as well as the annual expansion and maintenance of the Benjes hedge. Initially a bit absurd, but very entertaining, was the inventory of the cycle racks: together with my colleague Cornelia Pröls, I roamed the entire university campus for this purpose and discovered corners (and parking spaces) that were previously unknown to me. The results can now be found on OpenStreetMap and the university website.
I also found the insights into the university’s internal processes particularly rewarding, for example through my involvement with the Sustainability Council. Last but not least, my role as a student assistant in the Green Office allowed me to combine my voluntary work with my studies – which proved particularly helpful when organising the ‘Electrified!’ (external link, opens in a new window) exhibition . Sustainability is a cause close to my heart because …
… through my studies in molecular medicine and my own experience, I know that only a healthy planet can ensure good health for us humans. Both physically and mentally, factors such as clean air, water and the scents of plants, etc., have an impact not only on our bodies but also on our mental wellbeing. I am convinced that the more we work in harmony with nature rather than exploiting it, the better off we will be.
My responsibilities and achievements at the Green Office:

During my time as a student assistant at the Green Office, my main responsibility was managing the Green Office website. Together with my colleague Anja Wermisofsky, I developed the concept for the new website for the Green Office and the Sustainability Unit, and subsequently implemented it. This actually involved much more work than originally anticipated.
As well as the website, I was responsible for creating content for social media, which was mainly shared via the university’s account. At some point, I felt it was really important to set up a dedicated social media account for the Green Office so that we could communicate our events and initiatives to the outside world more flexibly and quickly. To this end, I developed a social media strategy, which my colleague Josi will now be implementing (and I’m absolutely thrilled!).
What I’m particularly proud of are my own projects and collaborations that I was able to initiate: as part of the campaign for sustainable eating, I suggested a (external link, opens in a new window)cookery course to the StWNO (external link, opens in a new window), which took place in January 2026 and was completely fully booked (yay!). I’ve also established a partnership with StudiKino and the student health management programme URalive (external link, opens in a new window) (“Green Screen”), which will continue in the summer term of 2026 (yay again!).
Overall, it was very important to me to reach out to students and get them excited about sustainability in a fun way. I had a lot of freedom in my approach and am very grateful to my line managers for that ♡.
