(Industrial) Chemistry at the Regensburg University Open Day 2025
In 2025, too, the chemistry degree programs were presented at the Regensburg University Open Day through talks and an information stand.
In the two information sessions on the Bachelor’s degree programmes in Chemistry and business chemistry, Prof. Dr Frank-Michael Matysik gave the participating school pupils, parents and teachers a comprehensive overview of the content of the two Bachelor’s programmes and highlighted opportunities for further qualification through Master’s degree programmes. He also discussed the wide range of career paths open to graduates of a chemistry degree, which may include pursuing a PhD. Visitors were also able to gain interesting insights into everyday student life at the faculty and life in Regensburg, the ‘student city’.
The members of the Regensburg Young Chemists’ Forum (JCF) did a brilliant job, welcoming visitors to the information stand with a wide range of impressive chemistry experiments and the now legendary ‘Fruchtzwerge’ ice cream served from a nitrogen Dewar flask. With their relaxed and enthusiastic manner, the JCF members made chemistry appealing to the school pupils, whilst providing expert and honest information about the degree programmes from a student’s perspective.
Dr Claudia Wanninger-Weiß and Dr Anja Stromeck-Faderl looked after the (Industrial) Chemistry information stand and, as student advisers, were also on hand to answer questions.
There were lots of interesting conversations with the pupils and it was great fun!
