• Webmail/GroupWise: You can access your student email account via GroupWise. Please check your email regularly and always use your student email address for communication within the UR.
• Examination Regulations : The Examination Regulations, as of xx/xx/2026, govern your master’s program.
• Module Catalog: The Module Catalog lists and describes all the modules you must complete during your studies.

Important: Since new examination regulations will take effect for the 2026/27 winter semester, preparatory work (SPUR, FlexNow, etc.) is still required. This work may continue until the start of the lecture period. Please be patient for a little while longer. Thank you for your understanding.

Orientation Session and Program Information for the M.Sc. Chemistry (English):
Thursday, Oct 8, 2026, excpected 10 am, lecture hall H47

Winter Semester (1st semester) and Summer Semester (2nd semester)

• all courses in the three selected “Core Modules”
• all courses in the two selected "Advanced Modules 1"
• all courses in the selected “Advanced Module 2”

Winter Semester (3rd semester):

• three Core Module Exams between September 1 and December 15 (note the registration periods!)
• January: Start of the Master's Thesis

Summer Semester (4th semester):

• September 30: Submission of the Master's Thesis

Summer Semester (1st semester) and Winter Semester (2nd semester)

• all courses in the three selected “Core Modules”
• all courses in the two selected "Advanced Modules 1"
• all courses in the selected “Advanced Module 2”

Summer Semester (3rd semester):

• three Core Module Exams between April 1 and June 30 (note the registration periods!)
• July: Start of the Master's Thesis

Winter Semester (4th semester):

• Match 31: Submission of the Master's Thesis

At least 4 CP must be earned in the elective area during the course of the master’s program.

You have the following options:

• Expertise in accordance with section 11 ChemVerbotsV: Instruction and examinations conducted exclusively in German
  Course: Toxicology (2 CP)
  Course: Legal Studies (2 CP)
  Note: This option is only available to students who have not already obtained the Expertise during their bachelor’s program!
• Enrollment in an additional “Advanced Module 1”
  must be selected within the subfield of one of the chosen “Core Modules”
  CHE-MSc-AM1-SusChem1 or CHE-MSc-AM1-SusChem2 may be selected as an advanced module for CHE-MSc-CM-BioCH (Core Module Biochemistry)
• Enrollment in Special Lectures with an Exam
  To be selected from the offered “Advanced Modules 2” that have not yet been taken as part of the required curriculum
• Additional Research Lab Course, including a research report
  Must be completed in the subfield of one of the selected “Core Modules”
  Scope: 4 CP; lab time: 90 h; preparation of the research report: 30 h
• Academic English courses, including exams
  One course worth 4 CP offered in both the winter and summer semesters
• Professional Qualification / Future Skills:
  Upon informal request to the chair of the Examination Board, additional courses may be taken (e.g., Data Science or similar)
