Guest Students

As a guest student, you can attend selected lectures in numerous subject areas; it is not possible to take examinations. Enrolment in the subjects of medicine and dentistry is not possible.

Guest students can only attend lectures. It is not possible to take part in tutorials and internships or to sit examinations.

Enrolment as a guest student is subject to a fee. We therefore recommend that you only submit your application once it is certain that the course you have chosen will actually take place.

Submitting the Initial Application for Guest Students

For an initial application, please submit the following documents during the enrolment period:

The Registrar's Office is the point of contact for your application. Please send your documents by e-mail to studierendenkanzlei@ur.de (opens your email program) with the following subject Gasthörer, surname, first name, date of birth. You can also send the documents by post to the Registrar's Office. (opens your email program) Alternatively, you are welcome to visit us in person during our opening hours.

How do I submit my follow-up application?

After your first semester as a guest student, you can submit follow-up applications if you are interested. Please note the enrolment deadlines here too. For follow-up applications, we only need the completed and signed application form | PDF, German version only (opens in a new window). (This PDF is not accessible).

You can send us the application form by post or preferably by e-mail. Please send your e-mail to studierendenkanzlei@ur.de (opens your email program) with the following subject: Gasthörer, surname, first name, date of birth.

How much does a guest study programme cost?

A guest student programme is subject to a fee. The fee for studying as a guest student is based on the number of semester hours per week:

  • Up to four semester hours per week, the fee is € 100
  • up to eight semester hours per week € 200,
  • € 300 for more than eight semester hours per week.

Please only submit your application once it is certain that the course you have chosen will actually take place.
