One-year scholarship program sponsored by the Free State of Bavaria for graduates of Central, Eastern and Southeastern European states for the funding year 2026/27.

For the the academic year 2026/27, the Free State of Bavaria will once again be awarding one-year scholarships to graduates (with appropriate citizenship) from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine. The scholarship is intended to finance postgraduate studies (i.e. Master's programs), PhDs or one-year research stays at a state or state-funded higher education institution in Bavaria.

Application deadline is Febuary 28, 2026 for Extension Application!

Scholarships of the Free State of Bavaria for summer courses of German language at Bavarian HEIs 2025.

Students and young academics (with appropriate citizenship) from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia and Ukraine with intermediate German knowledge (at least B1-level) are eligible to apply for scholarships for summer courses of German language at Bavarian higher education institutions.

The scholarships cover course fees, accommodation, meals, and excursions. Scholarship holders are responsible for their own travel expenses.

Scholarship programs offered by partner countries of the Free State of Bavaria.

The partner countries Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, Czechia, and Hungary offer scholarships for study and research stays at their universities or research institutions.

Students and young scientists who are enrolled or conducting research at a state university or a church-run university in Bavaria are eligible to apply.

Summer School: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Human Rights, July 20-24, 2026, at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität

Eligible are students:
• on Bachelor´s level of all disciplines, including Law, at Universities in Poland.
• interested in understanding human rights as a complex, interdisciplinary field relevant to academia, policy, and society.
• with B2 or more English language proficiency.

Advanced students and early-stage researchers from Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe or Bavaria have the possibility to apply in cooperation with an academic supervisor from a Bavarian university for mobility grants for a research stay in Bavaria or Eastern Europe (travel expenses/allowance, accommodation expenses).

The program’s focus in 2026 is put on the region / countries: Western Balkan countries and Ukraine.

Maximum funding amount: 1.000 Euro

BAYHOST offers to students of Bavarian universities the possibility to apply for flexible internship grants in order to facilitate internships and gain experience in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe.

Funding amount: 450 Euro
