December 11th, 2025

Together with OTH BRIDGE (OTH Regensburg) and International Campus Friends, we brought UR and OTH students together for an evening of creativity, socialising and festive mood.

The students formed teams to build and decorate gingerbread houses, took part in an entertaining “get-to-know-you” game and had interesting conversations while practising their German skills with exciting discussion questions.

It was great to see the students socialising across cultures, universities and backgrounds in such a relaxed and happy atmosphere.

Our guests, successful former UR international students Satenik, Milica and Metehan, all emphasized how important it is for international students to be confident in their abilities, remain self-assured and take pride in their internationality. The fact that they are already succeeding in a new country, surrounded by a different culture, speaks volumes about their determination, resilience and ambition.

Job fair visit: CONNECTA & Jahn Career Day

Networking

October 23th & November 13th, 2025

Our student group recently had the opportunity to attend two exciting career events in Regensburg: the CONNECTA job fair and the Jahn Career Day. Both events provided an ideal platform to bring students and industry professionals together and exchange ideas about career prospects.

On site, students had the opportunity to talk to numerous companies from fields such as engineering, IT, business and consulting. Each conversation provided valuable insights into different career paths, current industry trends and information about the skills that employers are particularly looking for today.

These experiences also encouraged people to think about their own professional future in the region.

Courses: German intensive language courses in September

September 2024

The International Office and the Center for Language and Communication (ZSK) at UR are working together to offer intensive German language courses for students on English-language Master's programs during the lecture-free period.

One participant commented: "It was a super program and excellent teachers. Hopefully this takes place all year round for students like myself to pick up German faster. Thanks for your hard work."

The courses are usually subject to a fee, but thanks to the iSTEPS funding, 29 participants were able to improve their German skills in the five-week courses at the ZSK this September with only a small contribution. Of the 29 participants, 23 achieved level B1 or higher.

The next intensive language course is planned for March 2025.

The iSTEPS IRK programme is aimed at regular international students and international applicants attending preparatory courses at UR.

Participants learnt the practical basics of presenting, including body language and presentation structure. A special feature of the programme was the individual coaching, in which the students kept a video diary of how they perceived themselves and others and developed strategies for coping with stress during presentations.

Networking: Kickoff - Campus initiative for international talents

Panel discussion. Several people sit together in a panel discussion in front of an audience.

June 5-7th, 2024

There is no one-size-fits-all solution to the problem of skills shortages. Germany has enormous talent in all of its universities, but has so far been unable to support them and motivate them to stay.

This is now set to change, as the Campus Initiative's programmes for international talent aim to close this gap. Students from all over the world benefit from the individual projects and resources that are now available locally.

At the University of Regensburg, we are continuing this work with the International Office's iSTEPS project. As participants in the kick-off event of the campus initiative in Berlin, we are taking away great ideas and networking opportunities.
