Gorizia. A Regensburg Italian Studies excursion to the European "double" cultural capital

In 2019, Matera in southern Italy was the European Capital of Culture - which means it won't actually be Italy's turn again until 2033, but the border location and partnership made it possible for Slovenia and Italy to apply for the title together with the "twin city" of Gorizia / Nova Gorica and they won the bid under the "Go!2025" label. Regensburg Italian Studies is offering several courses on Gorizia in 2025 - starting with an excursion led by Dr. Giulia de Savorgnani, who comes from Gorizia herself, accompanied by Dr. Simona Fabellini, Dr. Jonas Hock and Dr. Regine Strätling.

Flossenbürg Concentration Camp Memorial

The department regularly organises excursions to the Flossenbürg concentration camp memorial site. They enable students to experience historical contexts directly on site and to reflect on them together.
