Benvenuti a Ferrara! A first insight into the Master's programme intercultural european studies
In cooperation with the Università degli Studi di Ferrara, the Master's programme in Intercultural European Studies (IKE), Ferrara option at the Institute of Romance Languages and Literature at the University of Regensburg offers a two-year consecutive program leading to the Binational Program Master's degree in Intercultural European Studies / Laurea Magistrale LM 37 "Lingue e Letterature Straniere".
The programme with a focus on cultural studies is aimed at students who are interested in developing an intercultural profile, deepening their specialist knowledge of Italian culture, language and literature, European history and additional language training in a third foreign language. Requirements include very good language skills in Italian and German, which are developed to the highest level through language and translation courses integrated into the degree programme.
The Master's degree programme is designed for graduates of humanities subjects such as Italian studies, German studies, comparative linguistics, translation studies with a focus on Italian, general linguistics, literary and comparative literature, media and cultural studies (or similar).
The intercultural european studies programme also offers graduates of the BA programme "German-italian studies / Studi italo-tedeschi" the opportunity to continue their studies in a meaningful way and to extend their Bachelor's degree with a Master's degree.
Students from both universities spend the first two semesters together in Regensburg and the following two semesters at the partner university in Ferrara. They receive the degree from both universities.
To promote intercultural competence and gain professional experience, an internship (150 hours) in an international company or institution is compulsory during the degree programme.
