Teaching observation

In a teaching observation we sit in on one of your courses and then analyse what happened in the session. On request we record the session on video. This gives you the chance to reflect, together with a member of the CUAT team, on your own approach and conduct in concrete teaching situations. You set the focus of the feedback yourself and thus decide which observations the teaching observation concentrates on.

In a teaching observation we attend one of your courses and then analyse the session together with you. On request we record it on video so that you can reflect on your own teaching practice in a focused and well-founded way. You decide which specific aspects and observation priorities we should pay particular attention to. Areas of interest might be, for example:

• interaction during the session (Is the atmosphere conducive to learning? What can I do to reach the students better? …)
• didactic design (suggestions and ideas on how content can be prepared methodically)
• use of media / handouts / use of illustrative material

 Together with a member of the CUAT team you reflect in a confidential conversation on your strengths and on where there is room for improvement. 

Credit towards the Certificate in University Teaching of the Bavarian Universities

A teaching observation with a subsequent feedback session is credited with 4 work units in area D Reflection and evaluation towards the Certificate in University Teaching of the Bavarian Universities.
