Subjects

You must choose three subjects. One subject may be chosen from the minor subjects.

Within each subject, you must choose one theoretical and one practical module.

If you need help choosing your subjects, you can contact the module coordinator for them. They can also help you find a research group for your laboratory practical.

For most modules, you do not need to register. Registration is only required for a few modules with limited places. If registration is required, this will be stated in the module description.

Theoretical modules

As part of a theoretical module, you must attend lectures and a seminar and sit an oral examination.

Lectures

You do not need to register for the lectures. There is no exam to sit. However, the content of the lectures may form part of the oral examination.

First-year students starting from the winter semester 26/27 must complete a portfolio for the lectures.

Seminar

You must register for the seminars. You can find information on how to register in SPUR.

Once you have attended a seminar, you must register it in FlexNow.

Oral examination

After attending the lectures and the seminar, you must sit an oral examination. You choose the examiner, arrange the date for the oral examination with the examiner and register for the oral examination in FlexNow.

At the student’s request, the oral examination may also be held in German.

Practical modules

As part of the practical modules, you must undertake a six-week laboratory course.

You can contact the module coordinator. They can help you find a research group for the placement.

The practical modules are assessed via a portfolio assessment.

The mark should be based on your practical performance, the writing of a report and an oral presentation in a seminar accompanying the laboratory course.

The completed assessment form should be returned to you as feedback.
