Handwriting" exhibition
WS 2023/2024 und SS 2024
Is the digital transformation replacing handwriting? When do we still write by hand today and what is our relationship to our own handwriting? The project seminar "Handwriting" in the winter semester 2023/24 and summer semester 2024 under the direction of Dr Vera Bachmann dealt with questions like these. The individual and group work developed very different approaches to the topic of "handwriting", the results of which are on display in an exhibition.
Among other things, the connection between clinical pictures and changes in handwriting or the difficulties of learning to write in mother tongue and foreign languages such as Japanese were shown. The exhibition also focussed on graphology, the trend towards hand lettering and graffiti.
The exhibition opening took place on 3 June at 3 pm in the upper foyer of the central library of the University of Regensburg. Duration of the exhibition: 3 June to 13 September 2024 on the premises of the Regensburg University Library (exhibition space on the 1st floor of the central library).

Wastescape(s)
SS 2022
As part of the Regensburg Sustainability Week, students, together with member of the teaching staff Barbara Wimmer-Bulin, organised a concept exhibition entitled WasteScape(s) as part of the project seminar "Images of a Landscape".
The core of the concept exhibition was to scrutinise the human approach to landscape and to explore what landscape is. Based on many theoretical texts, photographs were taken and displayed on the billboards of Mittelbayerische Plakatwerbung throughout the city.
A project website accompanied the exhibition. In addition to photo essays and text contributions, soundscapes - i.e. the visualisation of landscapes using sounds - can also be found there: https://wastescapes.wordpress.com (external link, opens in a new window)
WasteScape(s) thus became part of the urban landscape of Regensburg. The aim was to reach as many different people as possible and encourage them to reflect on their personal relationship with nature and the landscape. Further links:

Regensburg band "King Louie" thrilled by our promotional videos! As part of the project seminar "Conception and production of advertising and short films" under the direction of AV media graduate Péter Frucht, students from the University of Regensburg created promotional videos for the teacher band. With their humorous lyrics in Bavarian dialect, which cover well-known songs, the musicians of "King Louie" are guaranteed to make everyone smile. They sometimes interpret electronic music with traditional instruments. If you like entertaining and somewhat quirky interpretations of music, you shouldn't miss out on this project! Concept exhibition "Home Sweet Home - Where are you at home?"
WS 2021/2022
Member of the teaching staff: Barbara Wimmer-Bulin (www.barbarawimmer.de)
Guided by the medium of photography as a sensory means of analysis, media studies students developed an exhibition entitled "Home Sweet Home - Where are you at home?" as part of the project seminar "What can photography do?".
Based on many theoretical texts from cultural and media studies, they explored the concept of home and scrutinised photography as a narrative tool.
For all students, the individual exploration of home also became a subjective search for memories, fleeting odours or scraps of images that we carry around with us.
The conceptual exhibition was a multi-dimensional experience: visual and auditory components were paired with background information on the topic of home and told individual histories about "perceiving oneself in the world".
The vernissage took place on 3 February 2022, at which cultural scientist Dr Simone Egger from the University of Klagenfurt gave an opening speech.
The exhibition ran at W1 (Centre for Young Art and Culture of the City of Regensburg) from 04.02.2022 to 04.03.2022.
