Student Accident Insurance

Students are covered by statutory accident insurance during their education and training at the university.

When and Where Does Accident Insurance Apply?

Accident insurance applies to all enrolled students – but not to guest students.

Students are insured during courses such as lectures, seminars and tutorials, but also when visiting the university library or on excursions organised by the university. Participation in student self-administration is also covered. However, accident insurance does not cover participation via video conference in a private room. In addition, the journey to the university and the journey to and from the place where a course takes place outside the university is included in the insurance cover.

The insurance cover is non-contributory for these cases, the costs are borne by the state of Bavaria.

The statutory accident insurance provider is the Free State of Bavaria (Freistaat Bayern), represented by the Bayerische Landesunfallkasse (external link, opens in a new window) (address: Ungererstraße 71, 80805 Munich).

Report an Accident - as Soon as Possible!

The insurance provider, i.e. the Bayerische Landesunfallkasse, must be informed as soon as possible so that it can provide the earliest possible and effective medical treatment and make the necessary determinations regarding benefits.

For this reason, all accidents that occur in the area of the University, including the way there and back, must be reported immediately to the Registrar's Office (studierendenkanzlei(at)ur.de (opens your email program)) by the person affected (or by a representative). Sports accidents must be reported directly to the Sports Center. The necessary forms can be found at the following address: http://www.kuvb.de/service/unfallanzeigen/ (external link, opens in a new window)

The insurance provider is only able to grant benefits if the accident has been reported in good time.
