Maternity Protection for Students

The Maternity Protection Act (external link, opens in a new window) regulates the protection of mothers at work, during training and while studying. The aim of maternity protection law in the area of universities and colleges is to enable pregnant or breastfeeding students to continue their studies without compromising the protection of the pregnant woman, the unborn child or the breastfeeding mother. It ensures that mothers can continue their studies during this period without jeopardising their health or that of their child and counteracts discrimination during this time.

Notification Obligation of the UR

The university is obliged to notify the Trade Supervisory Office (=Gewerbeaufsichtsamt) of a pregnant or breastfeeding woman who is attending compulsory training events or completing a compulsory internship as part of her higher education program at the University of Regensburg.

In order to be able to guarantee this, we ask you to inform the Registrar's Office (opens in a new window). (This PDF is not accessible) of your pregnancy in good time using our registration form | PDF (opens in a new window). (This PDF is not accessible). At the same time, please send us proof of the expected date of delivery and a list of the events you will be attending during the maternity protection period or breastfeeding period.

The university will then determine the maternity protection period, prepare a risk assessment and inform the Trade Supervisory Office.
