How to behave correctly as a student in the event of illness

Please stay home if you are sick—especially if you have an infection.

For courses that do not require attendance, you can simply stay away.

For courses where attendance is compulsory, please notify your lecturer of your absence due to illness. If you exceed the specified number of possible days of absence due to illness, please discuss with your lecturer whether alternative participation or alternative performance is possible. Please refer to the Examination Regulations applicable to you for the maximum number of possible days of absence.

Sick on the Day of the Exam - What to do?

For examinations, please take note of the information sheet and application form "Behaviour in the event of illness-related inability to take examinations" | PDF (opens in a new window). (This PDF is not accessible).

Take the information sheet (opens in a new window). (This PDF is not accessible) with you to your doctor's surgery so that the certificate can be issued correctly there. You can send the original documents (application and corresponding certificate) by post to the examination office responsible for you or post them in the letterbox next to the "Examination Office Information Centre" entrance (room PT 1.1.12 D).

Please note: You cannot withdraw from the examination at a later date. If you wish to withdraw from an examination or an examination registration, you must make this decision before taking the examination.

In any case, you have to take care of the cancellation of the exam and a medical certificate on the day in question at the latest!
