Dear first-year students,
We’d like to extend a warm welcome to you all and wish you the best of luck, every success and, above all, lots of fun as you embark on this new chapter in your lives!
Unfortunately, we can’t tell you whether you’ve chosen the right degree programme. However, we’ll be on hand to offer you advice and support so that you can get through university with as few hiccups as possible. That’s why we’ve put together a short guide to things you should know at the start of your studies.
Student Council and First-Year Students
Traditionally, ourfirst-year orientation takes place on the Thursday of the week before lectures begin (mid-October). Here, we’ll give you all sorts of useful information to help you get started with your studies and show you the key areas of the university. You’ll also have the chance to get to know each other a bit and make some initial contacts ahead of the start of the term.
We’ve also set up a WhatsApp group for you, where you can get to know your future fellow students in advance. You can join the group here (external link, opens in a new window).
We’d love it if you could all come along to the induction.
If you can’t make it or received your admission notice too late, just pop into our student council room (CH 33.0.88) over the next few days and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have. You’ll also, of course, receive some useful information to take away with you!
You’ll also be able to try on lab coats from us and buy them for 20 euros!
If you’d like to become a member of the student council yourself, just pop along to one of our meetings (every second Tuesday) or drop by the student council room during lectures to get a taste of what we do! We don’t bite…
