Mission statement:

In many material systems one observes complex structures which have a decisive influence on the macroscopic properties of these systems. In recent years, mathematical tools have been developed in order to understand these phenomena within models from continuum mechanics. This workshop brings together experts from two DFG funded initiatives which address these challenges: The DFG Research and Training Group 2339 Interfaces, Complex Structures, and Singular Limits and the DFG Priority Programme 2256 Varational Methods for Predicting Complex Phenomena in Engineering Structures and Materials. This meeting is preceded by the workshop of the PDEs for surfaces and interfaces (external link, opens in a new window) organized by the FOR 3013 and the RTG 2339.
