Guidelines of the Faculty of Mathematics for use of AI tools in the preparation of seminar papers and theses

All content generated with the support of AI must be clearly identified in accordance with recognised academic principles. Exempt from this requirement are spelling or grammatical corrections, translations, and improvements to individual formulations that do not alter the meaning.

The use of AI in the preparation of the work may be taken into account when assessing academic or examination performance, particularly with regard to its independence and originality. The final assessment is at the discretion of the examiners.

The planned use of such AI assistance should be agreed in advance with all examiners.

Regardless of whether the tools used are disclosed, the student remains fully responsible for the content of the coursework or examination.

It should be noted that prompts entered into AI systems may be used to train the AI. The use of third-party texts as prompts may constitute a potential copyright infringement.

Further details on the permissible use of AI can be found in the guide on the use of artificial intelligence for members of the UR.
