Welcome to your studies at the Faculty of Mathematics! Here you will find all the information you need to start your degree programme. Further information can be found on the page for your degree programme.
The lecture period for the summer semester 2026 starts on 13 April 2026. Introductory Events for New Students and preliminary courses such as the bridge course will take place before this date.

Bridge course for teaching degree and Bachelor's degree

The Faculty of Mathematics offers a two-week bridging course (external link, opens in a new window) in the winter semester in which, among other things, typical mathematical working methods, in particular proof techniques, are practised. The voluntary course is rated as very helpful by participants - both in terms of getting into mathematics and getting to know fellow students.

Date: 21.09. - 02.10.2026

The course takes place in presence, weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00!

Summer semester 2026

If you are starting of studies in the summer semester, a consultation with the academic advisor Prof. Dr Luise Blank, luise.blank "at "ur.de, is strongly recommended. There are no mathematics lectures for the first semester in the summer semester. Courses can be taken in the Minor Subject and in the elective courses.


Registration for courses

  1. Mathematics subject area
    You will receive the relevant registration information for a course in the first lesson. You can register for lectures in advance in the university-wide course catalogues.
    Detailed information on the mathematics courses can be found in the annotated course catalogues of the Faculty of Mathematics.

During the lecture period, there is a supervised study and discussion room for first-year students. There you can learn, ask questions, work, discuss,... . Start in the summer semester from the first week of lectures.
