I am interested in the effective phenomena resulting from interactions on small length scales. The aim of my research is to analyse and rigorously derive macroscopic models from underlying microscopic descriptions. My research focusses on complex fluids (liquids and gases), especially fluids in and with which a large number of particles interact (suspensions). These interactions lead to remarkable effects, such as an increase in the viscosity of the fluid or even non-Newtonian effects such as viscoelastic behaviour. Within the analysis of partial differential equations, my research is located in the interplay of fluid mechanics, kinetics theory, fluid-structure interactions and homogenisation.
