Support and funding programs in Bavaria

These projects and funding programs of various Bavarian institutions - such as BayFOR, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Ukrainian Studies "Thinkspace Ukraine / Denkraum Ukraine" or the StMWK - promote cooperation and collaboration between Ukraine and the Free State of Bavaria (Freistaat Bayern).

Thinkspace Ukraine

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Ukrainian Studies "Denkraum Ukraine" ("Thinkspace Ukraine") at the University of Regensburg brings together expertise in Ukrainian history, culture, politics, law, and economics. Serving as an internationally recognized hub for knowledge and communication, it fosters interdisciplinary research and education on Ukraine.

Subject areas at DU:

  • Language and cultural heritage
  • War, peace and post-war order
  • Flight, migration and value transfer
  • Regional diversity - a comparison of industrialised and border regions

German-Ukrainian University Network

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) strengthens academic cooperation betweenn Germany and Ukraine with the new funding program German-Ukrainian University Network. The program aims at consolidating and intensifying existing cooperations between German and Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions. The German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (previously Federal Ministry of Education und Research) supports the program until 2029 with 24 million euros in total.

In Bavaria, three institutions are part of the DUHN and are cooperating with various partners from Ukraine in Module 1 "Study and Teaching"with the goal of further developing and integrating degree programs and joint courses:

  • OTH Amberg-Weiden
  • HS Weihenstephan-Triesdorf
  • LMU Munich
