More precisely: My main field of work is the mathematical analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations, especially in fluid mechanics and materials science. My current focus is on the mathematical investigation of free boundary value problems in fluid mechanics, in particular two-phase flows, and the interplay of modelling and analysis in this area. Different methods of harmonic analysis, functional analysis and (geometric) measure theory are used and, if necessary, further developed. I have also worked on various other topics such as non-linear elastodynamics of thin plates, pseudo-differential operators with non-smooth coefficients and generators of Levy jump processes.
