Literature that is not available in Regensburg can be procured via inter-library loan from other libraries.

You can also order copies of books and journals.

You are also welcome to suggest literature for purchase.

Order

  • In the Library Catalog you will find printed and digital books, journals and newspapers from the University Library of Regensburg and other academic libraries in Bavaria in the tab “Books & Journals”.
  • Log in to the Library Catalog.
  • Click on "Order interlibrary loan" for the desired title and submit the form.

If you cannot find anything suitable or a book cannot be found at the University Library

  • Click on "Tools" in the blue bar on the top and choose “Inter-Library Loan order”.
  • On the next page, select "Interlibrary loan request (book)" and complete the form.
  • If you are ordering a book via inter-library loan because it cannot be found at the University Library, it is necessary to write this in the field “Note”.

If you would like to order copies of book chapters or journal articles

  • Click on "Tools" in the blue bar on the top and choose “Inter-Library Loan order”.
  • Select.
    • "Interlibrary loan request (copy from book)"
    • "Interlibrary loan request (copy from journal)"
  • Complete the form.
  • Faculty members fill in the line University chair and cost centre if the costs are covered by the chair. Otherwise, enter self-payer here.
  • Students and external users leave these fields blank.

Borrowing

Delivery & collection

  • Delivery time at least 7 days
  • Pick-up notification by e-mail
  • E-mail in case of queries or unsuccessful inter-library loan request
  • Pick up within 2 weeks at the Loans in the Central Library(opening hours)
  • No shipping, collection only on site
  • Yellow inter-library loan slip is enclosed with each inter-library loan and must be returned with the item

Loan periods

  • Loan period usually four weeks, renewal possible for further 4 or 8 weeks
  • The supplying library can reclaim the book early
  • Loan periods and other requirements (e.g. reading room use, reproduction ban) are determined by the supplying library
  • The loan period is noted on the yellow inter-library loan slip and in the library account
  • Copies of articles may be kept

Digital deliveries

  • Depending on licenses and copyright, inter-library loan copy orders can be delivered as PDF files.
    You will receive an e-mail with a link that is valid for two weeks.
  • Depending on the license agreement, you will receive e-books and e-journals via inter-library loan. You will receive an e-mail with a link to the e-book, which is valid for two weeks.
  • If you order the print edition of a book, an e-book can be delivered. Conversely, it is also possible to receive a print copy via inter-library loan instead of an e-book.

Costs

  • The inter-library loan of books within the German inter-library loan system is usually free of charge.
  • Currently no nominal charge for copies.
  • Charges are possible for special collections and for copies of 100 pages or more.
  • International loan transactions (ILV): depending on the supplying library and shipping costs in some cases high fees may be charged. Such orders will only be processed after consultation with you.
