Layout for academic publications

In a scientific context, good layout primarily means clarity. Professional formatting facilitates working on your publication, makes it more visible and accessible and, last but not least, influences the quality of the content attributed to your research results.

Three tips for the layout of research publications

  1. Use style sheets!
    By defining headings, for example, you make it easier for yourself and others to find their way around your document. You can also easily apply layout adjustments to the entire document, ensuring a uniform appearance.
  2. Pay attention to accessibility!
    Accessibility is not only a legal requirement for scientific publications, it also ensures that your research results are presented in a user-friendly way. Adding metadata, for example, generally improves the visibility and searchability of your publication.
  3. Make use of assistance!
