Parenting and Academia

Parents who are researchers generally face particular challenges in balancing their work and family lives. They find themselves caught between the need for flexibility and performance expectations, gender-specific role expectations placed on parents, and structural discrimination against those who carry out care work. In the Regensburg local group of the ‘Motherhood and Academia’ network (external link, opens in a new window), we meet to share experiences and offer each other advice, and we are also open to anyone who would like to join us as allies.

Networking at the UR

Working closely with the UR’s Family Service, we meet as a local group around four times a year, either online or in person, to share ideas. In a safe and supportive atmosphere, there is space to talk about our experiences, contribute ideas and support one another on our journey as parents in academia.

Would you like to be added to the local group’s mailing list, or simply have a go at it and find out when we’re meeting next? If so, please get in touch using the contact details below. We’re always delighted to welcome new members!
