Strategic Partnerships at the University of Regensburg
As a transnational and transcultural hub, the University of Regensburg (UR) maintains an extensive global network of more than 350 partner universities worldwide. This network reflects UR’s strong international profile and serves as an important foundation for cooperation in research, teaching, student mobility, outreach, and knowledge transfer.
Since 2023, UR has been expanding selected international collaborations into Strategic Partnerships. These partnerships represent long term, sustainable forms of cooperation based on jointly defined strategic objectives of university wide relevance. They are directly anchored at the level of the university’s executive board, ensuring high visibility, strong institutional commitment, and supported joint activities.
Strategic Partnerships include financial support for collaborative initiatives, the development of shared research and teaching formats, and the strengthening of academic exchange at all levels.

Support with Networking Activities
The staff unit Internationalization at the Presidential Department provides support in establishing connections with (potential) cooperation partners at the Strategic Partner Universities.
UR Strategic Partnership Seed Fund
The SP Seed Fund provides financial resources enabling members of the University of Regensburg and colleagues at a Strategic Partner University (SPU) to develop, prepare, and implement collaborative projects in the areas of research, teaching, outreach/knowledge transfer, and campus culture.
