Journals and series

We use Open Journal Systems (OJS) to create a customised platform for your scientific journal. We present your publication series on the publication server of the University of Regensburg and, if you wish, we also bring it to the book trade.

Publishing magazines with UR Publishing Services

Digital publication options allow researchers to make their results available online independently of publishers. However, publishing scientific journals in this form is associated with organisational challenges. One internationally established answer to this is the free open source software Open Journal Systems (external link, opens in a new window) (OJS). It enables the operation of platforms on which the entire publication workflow of scientific journals can be handled, from manuscript submission and peer review to publication and indexing.

Another challenge in publishing digital scientific journals is keeping published articles permanently available. Reliable archiving of publications can be guaranteed by storing them on institutionally operated servers, such as those provided by the University of Regensburg's Computer Center.

UR Publishing Services supports researchers at the University of Regensburg in the publication of Open Access journals. We set up an OJS platform tailored to your needs for your journal, familiarise you with the use of the software, provide technical support and ensure permanent hosting of the site. Further information can be found in our guide to publishing open access journals via the University Library (opens in a new window). (This PDF is not accessible). We will also be happy to advise you personally.

Publishing series with UR Publishing Services

The publication server of the University of Regensburg is available to you for the publication of series. We will set up a page there on which the volumes of your series will be presented. On request, we also produce a print edition of your series.

Entrust the technical and library infrastructure of your publication series to the University Library. We take care of the allocation of persistent identifiers such as DOI and ISBN, metadata management, long-term storage and distribution via the book trade.

If you would like advice, please get in touch with us. You can also find initial information on our page on publishing books via the University Library.
