Scanning
There are booking lists for the equipment in the scanner room. It is advisable to book approximately 2 to 3 days before the desired scan date. You can save your scans as TIFF, JPEG or PDF files and then save them on a storage medium of your choice. Please mind the copyright.
Scanning books and paper originals
Special book scanners allow you to scan books or other print originals up to a maximum of DIN A2 in black and white, greyscale or colour mode up to a resolution of 600 dpi. Digitization on these devices is particularly gentle on books and saves time.
Batch-feed scanner
With our batch-feed scanner, single sheets up to a maximum of DIN A3 can be digitized quickly (65 pages per minute) and conveniently (duplex). The automatic feeder holds up to 300 sheets. Scans can be made in black and white, greyscale or colour mode with a resolution of up to 600 dpi.
Microforms and transmitted light formats
A special scanner with a maximum resolution of 600 dpi is available for digitizing microfiches and microfilms. You can use this device to scan in colour, greyscale or black and white mode.
You have the option of scanning 35mm slides (framed or unframed) as well as other transmitted light formats, such as film strips or X-ray images, with a resolution of up to 4,000 dpi. Document holders are available for common formats.
Large formats up to DIN A0
Our large format scanner can be used to scan documents up to DIN A0 size (e.g. maps, posters, plans) in colour, greyscale or black and white. The device can only be requested by scan order and is operated exclusively by Multimedia Center staff.
Digitization service
In addition to self-service use of the scanners, the MultiMediaCenter also offers all students and staff of the University of Regensburg a digitization service for scientific purposes.
This service offers you the opportunity to have printed material (up to original size DIN A0) as well as slides, microfiches and microfilms scanned. Please note the copyright.
The scans are saved as TIFF, JPEG or PDF files and can then be saved on a storage medium of your choice. On request, we can also produce PDFs with automated text recognition (OCR). You will be notified by e-mail as soon as the order has been completed and your digital data is ready for collection.
You can download the order form (opens in a new window). (This PDF is not accessible) (PDF, 1 page), fill it in and print it out. Printed forms are available from the Information Center of the University Library or directly from the MultiMediaCenter.
