Inclusion and Diversity
One focus of the current Erasmus+ programme generation (2021-27) is on inclusion and diversity. All people should have equal access to the programme, regardless of individual requirements.
In the higher education sector, students and university staff members with fewer opportunities are supported in realising a stay abroad and benefit from various options for additional financial support.
To apply for additional funding, please contact Margit Früchtl at the International Office of the University of Regensburg well in advance.
Study abroad: Services for students with disabilities or students with children
If you are a student with a disability and are planning to study abroad as part of your degree programme, the International Office will be happy to assist you. We offer the following services:
- individual appointments
- advice on suitable host universities
- support in communicating with the host university regarding ccompensatory measures / equal opportunities
- additional financial support (see tab below)
The application for an exchange place is part of the regular Erasmus+ application procedure and does not require a separate application process. Nevertheless, please contact us at an early stage so that individual needs can be clarified.
We also offer this service to students with child(ren) who are planning a stay abroad.
Top-Up for students with fewer opportunities
Students with fewer opportunities participating in the Erasmus+ programme can receive an additional grant (Social Top-Up) of €250 per month for their studies or internship abroad - in addition to the regular Erasmus+ grant.
The social top-up can only be awarded once, even if several criteria apply. It can be combined with the top-up amount for sustainable travelling.
Please refer to the following pages for information on the requirements for the top-up grant:
Additional funding for Erasmus+ studies
Reimbursement of actual expenses for students and university staff
Students and university employees
- with a disability (at least GdB 20),
- chronic illness
- or with child(ren)
participating in Erasmus+ can claim actual costs for stays abroad (Realkostenantrag).
Students who fulfil one of the three criteria mentioned above can choose between a social top-up allowance (see above) and real costs funding.
Applications for reimbursement of actual expenses are submitted via the NA DAAD (National Agency). This agency must approve the application before the mobility can take place.
Scope of funding (real cost application):
- Student mobility: max. €15,000 per semester and mobility or €30,000 per academic year and mobility
- Staff mobility: max. €15,000 per mobility
Preparatory trips
Participants with a disability (at least GdB 20), chronic illness or with child(ren) can also apply for reimbursement of expenses for preparatory trips. The purpose of a preparatory trip is to explore the local circumstances in preparation for a mobility programme that has already been approved. Costs of up to €15,000 per mobility can be reimbursed.
Sustainability
In addition to inclusive education and diversity, sustainability is another horizontal priority of the Erasmus+ programme. By providing financial support for sustainable means of transport, the aim is to increase the number of mobilities using more environmentally friendly means of transport and reduce the ecological footprint of the Erasmus+ programme.
